Frequent Questions

About the Indicator

Where can I find the indicator? The TTW Iceberg Detector is included in every ATAS Global version running on 'Latest' or 'Beta'. Simply search for 'TTW' in the indicators section. You will also find a detailed installation guide there.

What does the free version of the indicator include? The free version displays individual iceberg orders starting from a customizable size. The full version offers more detailed information and additional features such as the Iceberg Volume Profile and Dynamic Iceberg Development. You can find more details on the product page and in the Knowledgebase.

Is the Iceberg Detector an indicator for ATAS, or will it be integrated into ATAS later? The Iceberg Detector is a standalone indicator that is, however, included by default in every ATAS Global installation. An Installation Guide is available.

How much does the full version of the indicator cost? You can find information on pricing, product details, and documentation on our product page.

Does the indicator also work in non-time-based charts, such as tick charts? Yes!

Do the indicator and MBO data work on a MacBook with Parallels? Yes!

Does the indicator support native and synthetic icebergs? Currently, only native iceberg orders are detected. Support for synthetic icebergs will be added in future updates.

Does the indicator work with historical data (i.e., immediately after starting ATAS)? And in replay mode? Unfortunately, not at the moment, as ATAS currently does not provide MBO data in historical data or replay mode. As far as we know, this is being worked on.

It was mentioned that TTW can also visualize the position of stops. Will this functionality be integrated into the indicator or available as a standalone indicator? Depending on the feedback from the ATAS community, we will plan further development for the ATAS platform. Sweeps and stops could be the next indicators. The exact form (standalone or as part of a package similar to TradeFinder for Bookmap) is still undecided.

Datafeeds and Markets

How can I get Rithmic data? You can set up a free 14-day trial account at rithmic.com. After that, a broker of your choice (e.g., AMP Futures or various prop trading firms) can assist you further.

On which markets does the Iceberg Detector work? The Iceberg Detector works on all futures markets offered by the CME.

Does the Iceberg Detector work with cryptos (BTC)? Not exactly — it works with BTC futures from the CME (e.g., symbol BTCX4), but not with crypto exchanges, as they typically do not provide comparable MBO data. Whether iceberg orders can be exploited for trading BTC futures on the CME needs to be tested. While iceberg orders do appear regularly, they are relatively rare compared to other markets like the ES / NQ.

When will the indicator work with dxFeed? The indicator will work as soon as ATAS provides MBO data through dxFeed. Unfortunately, no date has been set for this yet.

Can CQG be used instead of Rithmic? Unfortunately, no. Currently, Rithmic is the only data feed that provides MBO data in ATAS. However, MBO data is essential for detecting iceberg orders.

Does the Iceberg Detector also work in the micro futures markets? In principle, yes. However, iceberg orders tend to be less frequent and smaller in these markets compared to the mini futures.

Trading

Will the webinar and slides be available? Are there instructions for setting up the indicator? Unfortunately, the webinar recording and slides are not available for download. However, in the Premium Member area on our Discord server (accessible to all customers with an active subscription), we offer a space for direct interaction with us and the community. Additionally, we are planning a hands-on webinar on Discord soon.

Do you have an example of how to identify a range with Iceberg Orders? We plan to hold additional practical webinars later this year. We recommend subscribing to our newsletter to stay informed about upcoming webinars.

Do the order sizes fluctuate from day to day, or can you trade every day with a fixed size set in the filter? Settings need to be monitored and tested regularly (as with most indicators) and updated for the upcoming trading days.

Why has iceberg volume increased again over the past 3-4 months? It's difficult to say for certain — however, it's true that iceberg volume was quite low for a while, and it has increased again in recent months.

What time frame does the indicator work best with? It depends on your personal trading strategy and cannot be answered universally. Each trader is responsible for finding the settings that work best for them.

Is there a way to filter by tranche size? Not yet, but updates are coming.

What do the numbers in the Iceberg and DID symbols mean? Please refer to the Iceberg Events and Dynamic Iceberg Development articles in this knowledge base for details.

Troubleshooting

I don't see any iceberg symbols! Check if any warning messages are displayed on the chart (e.g., 'Missing MBO data?' or 'Aggregated Quotes?'). If no icebergs are detected, it is usually related to the settings. Try temporarily lowering the 'Trigger Order Size' (e.g., to 1) so that symbols appear even for smaller icebergs. The frequency and size of icebergs depend heavily on the time and instrument. Once icebergs are displayed, you can increase the setting back to a 'reasonable' value. Also note that icebergs are only detected from the moment the indicator is started, as ATAS currently does not provide MBO data in historical data.

Active and passive orders for iceberg orders are not displayed for me. What settings do I need to adjust? Make sure to select the 'Professional Design' for symbols in the settings. Additionally, set the 'View Mode' to 'Exact'.

My computer has been using a lot of memory since I started using the Iceberg Detector. We are aware of this issue and are working on memory optimizations. Our indicator is the first to use MBO data in ATAS, and new interfaces were specifically created for this. We will continue to optimize these in upcoming updates until everything runs efficiently.
